Even when your child feels fine, routine doctor checkups are a big part of keeping them healthy. Babies are most at risk for serious illness, so many vaccines are given during their first 18 months of life. These well-child visits help doctors check your child's growth and development. Any problems can be dealt with before they become serious.
Since babies grow so fast, doctors suggest at least six well-baby visits by 15 months and two more by 30 months. KFHC members can earn up to $160 in gift cards for completing all eight well-child visits by 30 months.
At each checkup, your child's doctor will:
Do a head-to-toe exam
Give vaccines to protect from disease
Talk about eating, sleeping, safety, and mental health
Check hearing, eyesight, teeth, and development
Test for lead, autism, anemia, and more (if needed)
