For over 50 years, Golden Empire Transit District (GET) has been a key part of public transit in Bakersfield. California has a law that calls for all California public transit to switch to zero-emission bus fleets by 2040. GET is leading the way by buying 14 hydrogen fuel cell buses. This is a big step toward having a zero-emission bus fleet. GET will replace all its compressed natural gas (CNG) buses with hydrogen-powered buses.

The funding for these buses comes from California's Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP). GET is also training its staff and building the system needed to support this change. This will help lower air pollution. GET is making a cleaner, healthier place for all people.
